Hello! I’m Hilda. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Persian parents, I have spent most of my life residing in various parts of California, namely Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

Currently, I am a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at San Francisco State University and the Assistant Director of the Diverse Intelligences Summer Institute. Previously, I was a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at Santiago Canyon College.

I completed my master’s degree in philosophy at San Francisco State University and my bachelor's degree in philosophy at the University of California, Los Angeles. I have presented my research across the US, Canada, Scotland, Norway, and Japan. I am also a certified yoga teacher and practitioner.

Beyond academics, I enjoy consuming all mediums of art and design (esp. architecture, interior design, film, music, painting, and sculpture), being in or around water, practicing the piano, boxing, following the NBA (esp. Lakers and Rockets), and traveling the world.

Please see the navigation menu for more information regarding my teaching, projects, and upcoming philosophy or yoga classes. Additionally, you can find me on Twitter at @hildaloury or connect with me at hildaloury@gmail.com.
